Due to the overwhelming success of Walk to School Day this past month, Blue Oaks elementary is excited to announce that we will be holding a Walk to School Day one Wednesday each month. The first Walk to School Wednesday will be held November 16th, 2016.
We are currently looking for a Co-Chair for this program, as well as 5-7 dedicated volunteers to help out once a month with the walking bus stops. These stops are designed to oversee each walking route around the school.
If you are interested in volunteering for this vital program, please contact Kelley Newstead at #818-877-0524 or email at Kelley2000@hotmail.com.
The first preliminary meeting for volunteers will be on November 10th at 6:00 pm (prior to the PTC monthly meeting in the library).
Let’s work together to make this program a lasting success that will encourage healthy habits, a cleaner environment and a safer community for our children!

Hello Blue Oaks Elementary Parents, Family & Friends! October 5th marks the 20th International Walk to School Day.
This is the perfect opportunity for us to explore other routes to school and maybe even enjoy the “commute” for a change! In order to help our little ones arrive safely, this map outlines the safest routes to travel.
We will also have volunteers stationed at the highlighted starting points to accompany our walkers. So when the morning of Wednesday, October 5th, comes around, grab your coffee to go, lace up your tennis shoes and we’ll see you out there! If your student walks to school, they will earn a PBIS recognition patch!
- We encourage anyone who is new to assisting in the classroom to attend 1 training session so that you can be authorized to use the machines in the work room.
- We ask that your children do not accompany you because children are not allowed in the work room.
- Please see the sign-up sheet that went home with your child and return the sheet by this Thursday (September 22).
